This fry bundle pack come with 2+ oz of microworms for the first stage of fry growth and a grindal worm culture for juvenile/adult fry growth.
Microworms are tiny, non parasitic nematodes. They are approximately 1 mm long and make an excellent choice when feeding live foods to small fish and fry. These tiny creatures are readily accepted by most small adult fish and fry. They provide an ideal source of vital nutrients that are needed for optimal growth. Because they have a ton of nutritional value, around 48% protein and 21% fat, they make a great substitute for baby brine shrimp.
Microworms are easy to culture, inexpensive, and are pretty much maintenance free besides periodic sub culturing, if desired. Females mature in about 3 days and deliver live young. This makes them quickly available for harvesting. They require no feeding other than the yeast that is mixed into the medium. Unlike baby brine shrimp, they require no special set up. Microworms are usually cultured on a bed that is grain based such as oatmeal, instant mashed potatoes, or baby cereal. They are not incredibly sensitive to the environment and can be kept at most room temperatures of 60-80 degrees F. However they do seem to do better when placed out of direct sunlight.
Small fish and fry are instantly attracted to the constant wiggling of the worms which in turn heightens natural prey drive and the will to eat. Microworms are capable of staying alive under water for many hours. This makes them the ideal food supply to allow your fish to graze on as they will not foul the water as quickly as commercial bought pellets and flakes. These microworms are cultured using a medium of oatmeal and instant yeast.
Grindal worms are a small white non parasitic worm. They are closely related to the red earthworm. Grindal worms usually grow to approximately 10 mm in length, which are a bit smaller than white worms. This makes them an excellent food choice for larger fry, juveniles, and adult fish. Grindal worms hold a nutritional value of about 70% protein and 14% fat. They can make a highly desirable addition to your fish's diet. These worms will produce a cocoon that contains anywhere from 20 to 25 eggs. These eggs will hatch in about 12 days. Reproduction is best at 70-75 degrees F. Newly produced grindal worms will start to reproduce at about 20 days old. Grindal worms are perfect for older fry, juvenile fry, and small adult fish.
Buyer will receive 1 sealed ziplock bag containing 2+ oz of microworms in a oatmeal based medium and a 8 oz deli cup containing grindal worms in a soil based medium.
