Duckweed is a tiny flowering plant that is typically found floating on the surface of still or slow moving bodies of water. It is a plant that yields 1-3 leaves or “fronds” and one or more root or “rootlets”. Duckweed quickly propagates and can cover the entire surface area of the water.Duckweed not only provides shade from light but it also helps to give cover to small fry and other aquatic species. It aids in protection against predators from above by creating a blanket over the water surface. This makes it harder for birds, racoons, and other animals to zero in on your fish. Duckweed also helps to remove unwanted minerals from your aquarium. It uses these mineral to feed off of.  This makes duckweed a natural filtering source for the water. The nutritional value of duckweed is considered to be exceptional when providing protein to fish and livestock such as water fowl. Some duckweed have a protein value of up to 45%.
Buyer will receive 99+ leaves of duckweed. Product will be packaged in a ziplock bag along with a wet paper towel to give the plant some moisture. Shipping container is for temporary use only. Buyer should transfer plant to aquarium as soon as possible.
