Malaysian trumpet snails are freshwater aquatic invertebrates that make a great addition to the cleaning crew in a peaceful community tank. They prefer to borrow into the sand or gravel which enables them to find left over foods that most snails and fish can’t get to. They play a large role in aerating the substrate and will not disturb the roots of plants.

Their primary diet should consist of vegetables such as cucumber, kale, spinach and other leafy green veggies. Algae wafers are also a much needed food source. Calcium supplements should be given to help strengthen shells.

Adult snails are usually around 0.5 an inch but can reproduce at a mere 10mm in length. These snails are prolific breeders. They are a live bearing snail, meaning they do not lay eggs as most snails but instead give birth to up to as many as 70 live young at a time. Malaysian Trumpet snails also reproduce sexually and asexually. This makes them easy to breed as long as the environment is suitable.
